Kaufman County Master Gardeners were pleased to be invited to take part in the Texas Arbor Day celebration sponsored by the Terrell Garden Club on Saturday, November 4th at the Terrell Heritage Museum. Information about Texas Arbor Day and the importance of trees was presented Master Gardeners were there to answer whatever questions visitors had about anything gardening-related, not just trees. Refreshments were provided.

This program is part of a larger collaboration between the City of Terrell and the Terrell Garden Club. The Club’s original intent was to plant a tree at the Heritage Museum, but that plan has evolved into a larger landscaping consultation project. While renovations are being made to the outside of the museum, the Garden Club will work with Jessica King of Museum staff, on creating a multi-stage landscape plan to fully transform the Museum’s exterior. Kaufman County Master Gardeners will assist by offering information on a variety of easy-care native plants that will support pollinators.

The money designated for the tree has been reallocated to this landscaping project, since the City of Terrell was able to get their supplier to donate a lovely crepe myrtle tree, which was planted last weekend.
