In August, a group of Kaufman County Master Gardeners toured the Peachy Page Farm, where farm owners Cindy & Robert Page told them about their family business. Planted in the winter of 2008/2009, the peach trees were obtained from Tennessee, and as  expected, the two-year-old trees did not produces many peaches in 2010. The Pages have been selling peaches at the orchard and at the Kaufman Farmers Market. They expect a larger crop 2011, but production is dependent on how the trees make the winter and on spring weather cold enough for peach buds to set and then pollinate. The Pages discussed irrigating the trees, pruning, harvesting and weeding, after which the group toured the orchard to see the varieties that had been planted.  The tour ended with homemade peach cake and jam.

Peachy Page Farm is located at 10800 C. R. 4090, just off State Highway 34 between Scurry and Rosser. See their website (www.peachypagefarm.com) for more information.
