Kaufman County Master Gardeners Close 2010, Welcome 2011

At their December meeting, the Kaufman County Master Gardener Association celebrated 2010’s achievements, said goodbye to a dear friend and installed new officers for 2011.
During 2010, Kaufman County’s Master Gardeners contributed over 4,615 hours of volunteer and training time. At the state-determined rate of $20.85 per hour, that comes to $96,240 in benefit to the county. Fifteen Master Gardeners contributed 100 or more hour: Brad Ackerman, Richard Kozelski, Lynn Ackerman, Ed Clark, John Ballard, Margaret Ann Trail, Hildegard Smith, Nancy Bowman, Jeanie Allen Davis, Frances Holmes, Nancy Harris, Mary Dean, Marvin Dietel, Michael Stevens and Michele Reeves. Four members, Nancy Harris, Whitney Rozell, Michael Stevens and Inez Williams completed their 5th year as Master Gardeners in 2010.

Master Gardener Ed Clark, who passed away in September, was a member of the first Master Gardener class in Kaufman County in 2000, a consistent contributor of 100+ volunteer hours and an invaluable resource. Ed will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his fellow Master Gardeners.
The culmination of the December meeting was the installation of the Association’s officers for 2011. Lynn Ackerman will serve as President, and Rebecca Morrow is the President-Elect. Marvin Dietel and Margaret Ann Trail will continue in their current offices of Treasurer and Secretary, respectively. KCMGA thanks Brad Ackerman for his many contributions as the 2010 President.
