On December 2, 2013, Kaufman County Master Gardeners held their annual Awards Presentation at the Creekview Golf Club and Event Center in Crandall, Texas. County Judge Bruce Wood presented awards to Master Gardeners who had completed more than 100 volunteer hours in 2013. The nine were Rebecca Morrow, Frances Holmes, Brad Ackerman, Nancy Bowman, Marline Ballard, Richard Kozelski, Jim Burt, Frank Clark and Lynn Ackerman. Master Gardeners completed 2,473 volunteer hours for the year, which amounted to $54,752 in value to the county, based on the Texas Comptroller’s estimate of $22.14 per hour for volunteer service.

County Extension Agent Ralph S. Davis presented 10-year service pins to Missy Baker, Kim Kozelski, Nayadean Kozelski, Hildegard Smith and Margaret Ann Trail. Six new interns, Louise Bridges, Debbie Gamble, Janie Hill, Mary Nell Renteria, Linda Sanders and Rita Ware, were presented to the group; they will complete at least 50 hours of volunteer service during their intern year.

The program ended with the installation of new officers for 2014. They are Jim Burt, President; Brad Ackerman, President-Elect; Ginger Davis, Treasurer; Paula Gilligan, Secretary; and Rebecca Morrow Educational Enrichment Coordinator.
