Master Gardeners Linda Wells and Beverly Curtis shared their knowledge of Texas Superstar Plants with Heartland residents on Saturday, October 1.

Wells and Curtis, who have Advanced Training in Texas Superstar Plants, brought examples of some of these tough plants that have been tested and proven to stand up to Texas’ growing conditions. Since the plants came from the presenters’ own gardens, residents could be assured that these species would do well in their own yards.

Wells and Curtis talked about the history of the Texas Superstar Program, developed by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. Texas Superstar plants can be found at nurseries around the state. You can see and download a brochure about Texas Superstars at https://texassuperstar.com/plants/. That site also has a list of retailers where the plants are available. There’s still time to plant some perennials to give them a head start on spring.
